Cities XXL D3dcompile Has Failed

    yes. Heaps. I've been adding them over from my XL install one by one to see if they are having any impact on XXL. Usually I can tell right away because the game won't load, otherwise if it does load I figured it's fine. Gameplay is fine....and then BAM!

    Please don't say I should only be using Steam mods...I miss my mods :(

    the shader pack installed?
    if yes then You should remove it

    Some mods (mostly buildings) will show in the menu and some you can even place but as soon as you start zooming in and out around them, it crashes the game. We have no option but to wait for the authors to update their mods for XXL.

    Maybe the newest version of the community mod will solve your problem.

    In WIN7, if you remove mods you've installed outside of steam, be sure to delete them from the paks folder AND empty them from the recycle bin.

    I would still be sure to set steam properties to NOT synchronize (box is unchecked) if using cxl mods not loaded from steam.

    I just got the D3DCompile has failed error but I was on a custom map and all I did was set the graphic settings down to the lowest setting so I could remove the trees more quickly. Here is what XXL spat out

    I'm playing with 464 CXL mods together with steam workshop mods and I can play the game with them without any problems. It took me a great deal of time but found the problem "KH_Playground_1st_V1.1" mod (amusement park) caused the d3dcompile error. This was my case, I'm not sure this is the problem for everybody.

    I kept getting this 'exact' thing in the early stages of a city. It happened on 'zoom in". I was able to work backwards deleting building types until the city stopped crashing.
    Turns out it was these buildings: XLN_Altiris_ResidenceCL_Elite_T1-T3_V0.2.patch.
    Removed them from the Mods folder and no more crashes. Guess they just weren't ready for XXL yet.

    did you try clearing the shader cache?
    if it doesnt solve your prob it must be a broken shader

    I did not try clearing the cache.
    I'll do that and re-install those buildings and see what happens. I would like to keep them if I can.

    I finally found the one that was giving me the same issue.

    it was this: Office High rise 01 - Torre de Cristal, Madrid (V2=OWP).zip

    which unpacked to this: XLN_Ghulyen02.V2.OWP_.patch & XLN_Ghulyen02.patch

    if you have any of these in your cities, delete them and then delete the patch and hopefully this helps.

    with me is happened on CXXL windows 8.1 file CXL_DY_CanadianPacTowerV1.patch when i test it. even i delete building and than file and clean shadercash map not download.
