    Hi any one knows how to make dirtmap i have ILL, DIF spec ,bump and reflection but i would like to make dirt also and i would love to learn how to make a balcony Relling?

    To railings and dirt on the building:

    Diffuse L1 - 512 x 512

    To a railing:
    Your opacity map must be of the same size as your map diffuse.
    The color black represents transparency ingame,
    The rest of the card must be white

    example
    Opacity L1 - 512 x 512

    I personally use the Mental Ray plugin
    >>> Unwrap UVW in channel 2

    to make a balcony relling must i make a plane on my balcony? and must i put the relling also in my DIFF map? and must i use also a different slot in 3Dmax? are there any screens shot from this?

    or veryverybasic: use slice tool by hand and make a cut along the textures on ur model :D

    Ok here it go`s i made a opacity map but where do i put it? see pic, if i put it in my materiaal bol with diff, ill, bp, sp and rf i only see the balkon relling and not my building or must i put opa in a other materiaal bol??

    i tryed what you told me my friend but i think i am doing sommething wrong? see pics i see my relling but cant see the building anymore? also in viewer i see nothing at all

    you need to invert colors of your opacity map:
    your black areas must be white and your white areas must be black

    Hi mates,

    i followed the tutorial from the basic lightmap max 2012 i made the map (see pic) but if i put it in displacment map my building gets transparant meaning you can see trough my building ??? dont know what i am doing wrong, you can see in the material bol how it reforms it

    check your slots, other maps as well, shaders and all the usual stuff...
    also it could be a viewport error.. is it transparent in cxl viewer too (thats actually the only one that matters)?
