Even if COUNTRIES XL remains a "cooperation" project for the community, we will try to propose a ranking system for both cities & country.

This will allow us to reward players with landmarks or special features for their cities independantly from events / contests.

    1. City rankings

Cities will be evaluated on several criteria (from 1 to 10 rating scale). Some of them are perhaps a bit subjective from the moment, but as in other aspects of COUNTRIES XL gameplay, we will be transparent & always justify any of our decisions.

    · Esthetics of the city: the overall look of the city (architecture chosen and compliance to the objectives announced by the player, the country)

    · Economical attractiveness: Economical specificities of the city makes it a successful place to attract new Investors

    · Territorial planning: Is the player making good /original use of the maps possibilities

    · Special infrastructures: this criteria will rate the ability of the player to create unique & original infrastructures/facilities

    · Touristic destination: regarding the development choices made by the player & his country, is this city an attractive destination for tourists?

Evaluation should be performed by a neutral or international jury of observers . From these 5 ratings we can compile an Overall rating.

Additionally another leader board will be organized to track victories in all organized events (Country/ World/Thematic).

Leaders of those boards may obtain bonus & small rewards that they will be able to build in their cities or share with their teammates.

    2. Country rankings

Based on the strategy and choices of players, countries could also be subject of a ranking (also on a 1 to 10 scale).

This ranking should be representative of the efforts a nation is putting in presenting itself as a distinctive nation with dedicated culture, infrastructure, institutions... Will be taken into consideration:

    · Role Play: anything created by players that reinforce the impression of a structured nation. This is the case for both « In game » creations as well as « In forum » presentations & fantasy background illustrated

    · Architecture & urbanism: to what extent do the cities seem to belong to a same cultural entity? This does not mean that all cities have to look the same, but any choice has to be justified

For example: a white color dominance in the city buildings, presence in each city of a medieval old city center or a China Town.. Of course reinforces the sentiment of a shared culture.... But it can be also elements of urban planning, housing projects repeated in different cities (as it was in the USSR)... Anything from the moment it’s justified by players as part of their national strategy/identity

    · General Development Plan: the ability of players of a country to showcase the economical interdependance between cities and respect the GDP they have announced.

    · Cultural Influence: a ranking based on event successes obtained by countries in the different contests organized

    · Quizz board: a ranking based on successes in quizz sessions.
