Holy crap, that looks like those crazy airports where you really don't wanna miss the runway!

Here is mine - Aurora International Airport with its 2 large and 1 small terminal, 2 long and one short runways, logistics and business areas, and a few cool RHM interchanges
(I know you might have seen it already on the old website, but I just love it so much )

I don't remember exactly, the pics are from one year ago, the city, and my comp crashed... But the big oval buildings are a "stadium as decoration", then there are terminals ripped from the original in-game airport (in one airport pack mod, I believe)

i never know how to build such an amazing airport.....someone help me with the step by step please...

 

1. plan ahead
2. look at some real-life aiports on Google Maps/Earth
3. choose the airport style - big/small (e.g. 747 needs over 2 km runways), old/modern/futuristic, out-of-town/in-town...
4. find a good spot on your map, make sure the area is big enough, you have landing corridors (no tall buildings, mountains...)
5. make it absolutely flat - use terraforming tools, streets and plazas (the airport plaza from the pack flattens ground)
6. then you just start your LEGO work with the airport pieces, be creative
7. don't get frustrated, it takes a lot of time
8. share your results!

 

I would like to add two points:
1) When you have flattened the terrain, frame it with a double ring of pharmist's over water roads
and then fill the area in this frame with some water plaza or the zero elevation plaza that comes with nicko2u's dig area tool mod.
This way you can terraform the area within the frame with plazas whenever you want, but the area outside does not get affected by terraforming. In the end, just delete that frame.
It often gets necessary to terraform the area for another time, trust me
2) use some sites to get the required information about the length of the runways.

It is in general important at which height level your airport shall be.
At sea level, a 2.5 km long runway was enough for almost any aircraft
(airplanes need a longer runway when starting, due to higher weight),
but the higher you go, the longer your runway has to be

Airports are definetly the largest structures in CXL! I still remember my first airport in my first CJ takes about 1/10 of the map and the satellite view becomes ugly....
Strongly recommend if there will be a CXXXL, raise the map size to at lease 1000km^2!
