The Ultimate XXL-Mod-Conversion Project

    Hi guys!

    Let´s do a common project to select the XL-Mods that are compatible with XXL. I know there is a list in the forums, but this list is not correct or completed. There are a few mods listed, which are not compatible,

    I have tons of mods in the XL-Folder, but I do not know they are working with XXL. If I pack all mods in the XXL-folder, then the game crashes.

    Now to the project:

    If anyone knows mods are 100% compatible with XXL, he should post them. It's important that you work serious. Just put in the mod folder and see if the game crashed is not enough. You must build the mod, zoom in/zoom out a few times and wait to see if the game saves automatically without crash. Only then the name of the file can be posted. To make shure, you choose the right one, delete all mods from the Pak-Folder and check out mod by mod.

    There are also some old mods from the old XL Nation page, which are not uploaded yet. We also should test them and publish one again.

    There are also some ploppables, furnitures and buildings, which are not shown in XXL, because the XL user interface is different. These should be edited that they are also compatible with XXL. Who wants to help me?
    I´m really bad at modding. But if we know, which mods are not compatible with XXL, maybe there is a modder to make it solved.

    Please let us know your mod-list, but ony you are shure that these are compatible with XXL. Finally we can make a new list, which will be the right one.

    To lokalise better the missing mods, please make a screenshot of your mod-folder. But only you had not any game crashes last weeks! This is important. I will select the mods which concure with your mod-folder and make a new compatibility-index.

    The missing XL mods will be tested bit by bit. To save time I need your help. So please show your mod-folder!

    I am using XXL and I already downloaded and tried (either by batch or one-by-one sometimes) almost all CXL mods (except those duplicates). And I can say that only few mods were not working in XXL. Therefore, it might be easier to list up those mods that are not working than to make huge list of compatible mods (nearly a thousand) as already been said in the old threads.

    Some CXL mods were reported that cannot use in XXL due to missing menu location however, I found a way to locate it. For example, some ploppables/furnitures can be shown by selecting the Deco button and unselecting the the sub menu. This way it will show all under the sub menus . Same way, to show entertainment leisure items (cause I do not have the CLM), need to unselect both sport & cultural button. This way, it will show some leisure items such as casinos, quad bikes roads, etc.

    However, this doesn't work for pedpaths. Pedpath items were no way to appear in XXL. Please tell if somebody knows how.

    Some CXL mods did not make XXL to crash however there are some issues I encountered.
    1. Verrazano-narows Bridge v1.10
    Mr. Drazic made a fix to make it to XXL, however there were some issue, please refer to the discussion in the resource, post #5 ~ onwards.

    2. CityWall-ChinaStyle by Moran
    I do not know for others, but for me, the buildings are placeable however it mess up when placing new sloping RHM bridges. Also, the wall itself I can't find in the menu (I guess it is in pedpath menu that is not showing in XXL).

    3. Uokoik Hotel Moni
    At first, I though this works completely fine. I can place them in my cities, however, when I want to quit the XXL game, it took forever to close (then pressing alt-ctrl-del will show black screen). I tried it many times not just in one city but i tried also to other city. Does any one experience this also? Very sad, cause I really like the McDo-KFC upgrade option in one of its building.

    4. MOD for screenshot, animation photography (atyotyo_kamera.patch)
    It works in XXL, however no upgrade option to change the height.

    5. Amusement Park by Uokiok
    No crash on startup and placing this amazing rides, however, once the construction of the building finished, it will crash the game.


    C. My Wish List to make it compatible to XXL

    1. The above mods in B to "completely" working fine in XXL
    2. The Realistic NightLighting Mod
    3. Ferries and Waterways.
    4. RHM without pillars and the pillars (lextacy_RHM2_overpassMEGApack)

    5. Camera Mod (there two camera mods in the CXL resources, I do not know if they are the same)

    Your approach seems to be a more efficient, domengzu. Mr. Sky idea would certainly guarantee full compatibility but it's really hard to do that to so many mods. It would be easier to report the ones that don't work and give details about what could be wrong so we can fix it.

    These are only the XL mods I choose to use.
    May have missed sorting out a few XXL mods.
    Reasonably tested all of these mods.
    I can say I've had no mod related crashes in a year or so. I use the game daily.
    I can not say I've had all of these mods in the same map/city at the same time.
    I can not say what may happen if you use any of these mods.

    Usually, I test mod batch by batch (one by one in some occasions) in a NEW city. Then, I will test the same mods together with the rest of the mods I already tested and used in a TEST city that have ALL mods.

    For some stats:
    TOTAL XL (2009-2014) Resources (count by XLN Resource Page) - 960
    Maps, 3Ds modelling, some dependencies not applicable to XXL, and some offsites - 226 (24%)
    WORKING IN XXL (including some not fully functional but still workable) - 464 (48%)
    OTHERS (Not working, not yet tested, with dedicated XXL version, duplicated, etc) - 270 (28%)


    2 pdf files attached: 1 for those WORKING IN XXL and 1 for OTHERS. Links were set in pdf files. I put notes for some issues I encountered.
    Excel file also attached for those who want to continue to test and update.


    If ever there will be some mods working for me, but not for you (or the other way around), I'm sorry but I do not know why. I do not know if there are various versions/build of XXL. Logically thinking, if we are using the same version of XXL and using exactly the same mods, we should have the same results. Almost all of my mods came from this site only with some exceptions of around 3 mods from other sites that were also pointed by some users here.

    Also, please be aware that since mods were created by different persons, there were big possibilities of conflicts between the mods. Fortunately on the other hand, some mods became a helping patch for the other mod to work such as the No collision that make monorail works.


    Please also note that I did not use CLM & HEM mods, cause I see some reviews (I do not know if true or not) that the effect were not reversible when uninstalling the mod. I am also thinking of the possibility that some other mods have also irreversible effects that may had effect on some other mods.

    Thank you Domengzu! I will compare your list with mine. Unfortunately I had some crashes with mods I thougt they would work. Now I can verify much better. As Monty proposed, there will be upcoming two lists. One with the working and one with the crashy mods. Keep working folks! Any advice can improve the project.

    You can now add the XL Amusement Park by Uokiok to the list as long as you have the latest Fix for shader crash errors mod (XXL) 1.1 by Monty. The previous version helped get the Carousel working as well as other buildings.
