I think it could be funny to share pictures of the ugliest buildings of our respective country. All kind of buildings are concerned.

I beggin with probably one of the most awful building of Paris: la tour Montparnasse. It really looks like an eyesore. Fortunately, there is a project of renovation.

Here is another ugly thing located in Bordeaux. It is a bank building.

Good pick (y) actually, I like the shape of the second one, but being made of concrete is not quite helpful :D

One of my "favourites": 432 Park Avenue^^

That's what happens when you go for a bad Le Corbusier replication

Not necessarily. Paris avoided the worst. Here is what was the crazy (and very awful) project of Le Corbusier for Paris:
 Eighteen 60 storeys residential buildings in the center of Paris to put up 700000 persons.

Good Lord, that's a bad plan -.- why the hell do architects want these standalone buildings? If you do no integrate them to the street life, you basically fuck up the area...

Another fuck up, this time it's the Boston City Hall:

Oh boy! Even Alcatraz is more beautiful.

Here is another architect bad idea. The nickname of these residential buildings is "les camemberts". They are located in Noisy-le-Grand (eastern outskirts of Paris).

These buildings or plans are still the best looking buildings in China. If you want to see the world's ugliest buildings, China has assembled the universe.

    Seriously?

Oh my! You're serious. :cautious: But you're right at the end. By the way, it's the raison d'être of this thread :D
And, as it is Xmas soon, here is a present:

    Torre Velasca in Milan.

That is utterly grotesque, @Lokentaz, so it fits right here^^

Another candidate from London: Balfron Tower^^

Brings to mind the Glasgow post-war plan to demolish the entire city centre and replace with high rise buildings designed around a new motorway network.
bruce report 1.jpg bruce report 2.jpg
Four years later, a proposal was made to build a motorway straight through the centre of historic Edinburgh. abercromby and plum 1.jpg
Thankfully residents were not very impressed and the authorities were forced to think again!

I have been to Edinburgh once, and I liked that it had been keeping its character. So big thanks to the people who disagreed with that plan :D

I mean, I support smart solutions that do not ruin the scenery but that also allow for quickly bypassing the city centre. Mostly, such projects contain tunnels, which are costly, though.

The first picture: The "sky tower" i.e. a shitty attempt to make the Auckland skyline look like a big city skyline. Second is the very dated "Beehive" which is where NZ's Parliament sits in Wellington. 112282-2825-14.jpg 174123-6516-14.jpg

Yeah, the Skytower's shape does not fit anywhere within a city. It's bold :D

But I have to admit that I quite like the Beehive. The glass facade is large, and the building hence looks open to the public. It is not that tall such that it would look bold. And with its round shape, it looks quite remarkable. The high rise next to the Beehive looks ugly, I have to say :D
