What About A City Map Building Contest?

    The Rules would be simple. Awards would be given out like the Oscars.

    1. Everyone would have three months to build a city on the same map.

    2. You can do whatever you like, no restrictions at all besides using the same map. Each mayor would have full artistic license to use whatever patches they like, or develop any type of city they like.

    3. Everyone would be encouraged to talk about the contest and share updates on a Message Thread during the three month "building period." There would be no pressure, and no drama. This would not be about the "biggest" but the best.

    4. In the end each city builder would submit up to 10 photos (non photo-shopped) in a "Lets Vote for a Winner(s)" Thread. We could then either have 5 senior City Builders/modders at XLNation be the judges or I could figure out a way for the Community to vote on the winners. One city could win multiple awards as well.

    Awards would be given for:
    1. Best rural or farm region
    2. Best "Green" City
    3. Best "Industrial" City
    4. Best RHM interchanges and highways
    5. Best Parks and Plazas
    6. Best realistic City
    7. Best futuristic City
    8. Best Vacation City
    9. Best Looking Skyline
    10. Best Looking Harbor
    11. Best Looking Airport
    (Any other thoughts?)

    yeah need a map - maybe funkys bootleg river map. also I just started that one but as you guys aware im a slow builder. so prb a disavantage to me lol.

    I guess it is time to start talking about the map to use.

    1. Bootleg River is great but the problem I see is there is not really any room for those that want to build a harbor. It would be a great challenge if it was the choice

    2. CarteXL is my current choice because it has a bit of everything though it is a tad "flat"

    Any more suggestions? I am going to announce the Official Start with a new thread soon and we need to decide on the map

    a harbour? paulChris mods fix that problem, build them where you want.

    I see you've already picked a map, it's a pretty hard map as there isn't a huge amount of space. I've made another map that has a lot more room to build airports and harbours with a city and nice suburbs if you want to use that.

    I made bootleg river because I always wanted to build on a map like that. With farms and little towns along the river, but I found it too hard. Not enough room for airports or decent sized CBD's. So I made this new one that has a bit more room to do things.

    Personally I like the new one better and might be more inviting to people, but bootleg river would be a pretty good challenge.
