Introduction
The first houses where build by the Romans at the end of the Roman-empire in the South-East of the country. They where build near one of the CANALS digged bij the romans themselves. In a short period of time there was a town named "Flevum" of 41.000 inhabitans and a small HARBOR. In the harbor you can still see some remainings of the medieval period. Near the canal there is also a LOCK, so there will be a constant waterlevel in the canals.
In the South-West near the river there is the old city center of ACHILLIUS devided in quarters/departments. The quarters are mainlijk seperated bij CANALS and look like "islands". ACHILLIUS started as the town MATILLO and as it grew, nearby villages and town where integrated and the city got the name ACHILLIUS.
The old city is serounded by a main canal and old city walls, some are also remainings of the medievel period, some are 14 - 17 century. The City gates are quit intact, some are partly destroyed by wars in the past. The are also some remains of old watch- and defense-towers and a couple of citadels.

Achillius consists of several City Quarters. Because of the canals they are some sort of islands.

Transportation - NEW!!
As the old city centre grew, the public transport system also expanded. The first trams were hors-trams. The first metro was introduced in 1890.
Here you can see the tram and metrosystem - it is not completed. Later on I will update this picture.
