Bustling Port City

  1. Kawashima City Traffic

    Kitsunebi
In this update I'd like to show you one of my best traffic networks (yes I'm proud of it :LOL:). The railways are only eye candy of course, but I'd like to think that, combined with a good bus network, it should be enough for a city like this...

Let's start with Kawashima Main Station 川島市中央駅 200-1.jpg

When it first was built, it was not exactly in the middle of the city. The dense historic center should have remained intact, so the station was constructed just east of the center. Today, however, the highest buildings of Kawashima can be found next to the station building. You can also see the freight traffic bypass in the foreground. This way, freight trains don't need to run through the passenger station. 200-2.jpg

East of the station (here in the background) is the city rail yard... 200-3.jpg

You may have seen the statue of the "loyal lion" of Kawashima in the media section  200-5.jpg

This is Kawashima Castle Station, the easiest way to get to the famous sight: 201-1.jpg

There are also small stations in the industrial areas... here Saiyusho Station 製油所駅 201-2.jpg

The Taiyama Station 平山駅 is in the northern part of the city, beyond the river: 201-3.jpg

The port island of Maishima has a little stop as well, as many workers are commuting here every day... 201-4.jpg

Momodani Station 桃谷駅 is also in the northern part... 201-5.jpg

This one is right next to Kawashima University: 川島大学駅 201-6.jpg

Railway bridges can be seen throughout the city... 201-7.jpg

This is the city's largest railway yard: 202-0.jpg

Maishima Island hosts the biggest container port in the region... 203-1.jpg

Kawashima Airport is rather small and mainly used for domestic travel... 204-1.jpg

Of course, there is a golf course at the airport... 204-5.jpg

Another big network are the highways leading to and through the city: here the main access road from the west... 205-0.jpg

The approach from the east: 205-3.jpg

A big highway bridge crosses the valley of Midoridani: 205-4.jpg

Seeing this, an overview would have been helpful. I will create and edit this in the next few days ;)
