Rules: Unique Landmarks & Restricted Buildings/ Infrastructures

    This is a very important part of the gameplay and we hope players will all understand and "play by the rules".

    As we grow a world from nothing and intend to simulate the organic development of countries, we cannot allow a system where everything is built at the same time.

    Regarding our real world, major infrastructures require time to be built and for our project that means to optimize the use of your General Development Plan round after round.

    Players will have to discuss, as a team, major urbanism and infrastructures projects to be built for each cities within the country. Then they will prioritize the importance of their respective project for their country growth. If a country proves to be logic in the way it is "spending" its resources, we might reward the country with in game rewards!

    During the same round, a limited quantity of National Development projects could be built at the same time.
    National Development Projects (NDP). Hereunder you can find some examples of NDPs. This is a non exhaustive list, so if you have a doubt regarding the nature of your project, discuss it with your team or with us.
    • RHM / HIGHWAYS / COMPLEX INTERCHANGES: in order to build a whole highway network on a map, a player would need several rounds to complete this task. Especially if it implies bridges, tunnels, complex interchanges.
    • BRIDGES
      • Huge Bridges: e.g.: a bridge that connect two islands, or crosses a bay would fall in this category
      • Famous Bridges: Brooklyn or Verrazano bridges / Uokiok Cable Bridge, for example would need time to be built.
      • We will not give you some precise limits in the number of bridges you might built during a round… try to think realistic and don’t built 20 bridges in a round!
    • MODULAR AIRPORTS OR HARBORS
      • Airports development should reflect the need of the city, and the current population on the map. It’s not forbidden to foresee some future elements… just try again to be realistic and add additional features/ buildings round after rounds
      • We will propose to classify Airports & Harbors in different categories (Local, Regional, International). To build an International airport, you would first need to have reached the regional level & to reach a certain amount of population to justify the need.
    • MODULAR CONVENTION CENTER / HUGE OFFICE PARKS / UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
      • Depending on the overall size of the project and features attached to it (parks, transportation system…)… could take a few rounds till total completion.
    • METRO/ UNDERGROUND NETWORK
      • For any city in real life that is a very high cost!
    • HUGE INDUSTRIAL PLANTS & INTERMODAL WAREHOUSES FACILITIES
    • NUCLEAR POWERPLANTS...
    • CENTRAL BUSINESS DISTRICTS (CBD) projects La Defense / Moscow City alike…: Those financial places have been raised from nothing in several years in the outskirts of the historical centers.. such kind of project would also take time to be completed.
    • TOURISTIC RESORTS & MODULAR LEISURE OBJECTS:
      • Depending on the overall size of the project and its features…
    • COMPLEX STRUCTURES CREATED WITH NO-COLLISION BOX BUILDINGS
      • Some players can create incredible buildings by associating different elements...Here again, try to analyze the nature of your project and its impact for your city layout
    • HISTORICAL LANDMARKS & FAMOUS SKYSCRAPERS / BUILDINGS…
      • Historical landmarks as well as famous SKYSCRAPERS are subject to a particular gameplay as they fall into the “NDP” category. Statue of Liberty, Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera…. All major landmarks will be used as rewards for contests.
      • Depending on their "unicity"we will publish a list of buildings where a 1, 2 or "nothing" identifier will be applied.
    • The “1” identifier means that the building can be built only once in the whole COUNTRIES XL WORLD. (e.g.: there will be only 1 Eiffel Tower, 1 Statue of Liberty, 1 Empire State Building…)
    • The “2” identifier means that the building can be built only once in each country.
    • When there is no identifier, it means that the building can be used as many times players want.
