This is my second spin off from the recent Seawall and WaterRoads pack , again based upon Altiris's excellent Espanade Road. This is the much requested old harbour texture , with the holes at intersections problem fixed and the protruding quays removed , because with this patch you can make a quay of any size and length which is much more natural.
To clear up any potential confusion , these Esplanade Roads are in addition to the recent Seawall and WaterRoads Pack. Although they use the same textures, they are distinct mods and can work together. You do not need to remove the old pack to use these new roads.
I made all the 13 required pieces myself but copied the format of the files from Altiris's unpublished 15M Esplanade Road , so most of the credit for solving the "holes at Intersections " problem should rightly go to him. Published with prior agreement with Altiris.
Menu: Same as Altiris' Esplanade Road
You need to select:
1/ Individual placement (top of UIM menu)
2/ Custom content (3rd from bottom UIM menu)
3/ Then roads
IMPORTANT: This mod requires you to add a couple of custom tags to the game files. This is normally done by the UIM update and will not be necessary once it is upgraded to include these tags. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS YOUR GAME WILL CRASH ON STARTUP.
NB If you already have the previous Seawalls & Water Roads Pack installed you DO NOT need to install the tags again as they are the same as for that mod.
First , make sure you have the latest UIM (V1.79.9) installed , the link has been added to the additional resources box listed below.
Download the tags.cfg file https://www.dropbox.com/s/pduqwpa0azv4sb8/tags.cfg?dl=0 and place in your :
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Cities XL 2012\Data\Config\
folder and allow it to overwrite your existing version. This file is taken from the latest UIM V1.79.9 with my custom tags added to it.
OR if you prefer and ONLY if you are confident editing game files
open your existing local tags.cfg file located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Cities XL 2012\Data\Config\
in Notepad or similar and add the following custom tags to the "style " subsection:
<StylePJCSW3/> <!-- PJC Custom Seawall -->
WARNING : Manual changes to this file should be undertaken very carefully , always make a backup before attempting to edit this file..
Place the road as you would any other. It will handle corners , angles and intersections without any gaps.
The default placement height has been set at 7M which includes the boardwalk
Please Note: If you do not want the boardwalk in front of the wall then simply lower the road using the shift key which will hide them below the waterline.
The steps leading down to the boardwalk now only appear at junctions with other road types. For best results place the road you which to connect to FIRST , then place the old harbour road and make a connection.
This is my personal favourite of this collection. I hope you enjoy using it and I look forward to seeing it in your future screenshots.
