I've found this great pack rummaging through my archives. It was made by Dolin and published on the previous site XL nation.
This pack includes four office buildings of downtown Los Angeles. As you can see below, this pack works with CXXL.
- One & Two California Plaza
- 611 Place
- Union Bank Plaza
- Bank Of America Center
As I am conservative, here is the original overview of Dolin.
I present you my first mod, the fruit of weeks of work. Since some crucial buildings that make up Los Angeles's skyline did not exist, I decided to create them by myself, and now I present them to the XLNation community.
Credits to jjasper123 for the original sketchup models. Also special thanks to aitortilla01 and to everyone that helped me improve my skills and ultimately bring these models to you .
All buildings are equipped with: LODS 1 through 4 (LODS 1-3 have 1024x1024 map resolution and generally between 800-1300 polys; LOD4 have 256x256 maps with around 100 polys, exception made for California Plaza which has 164). All buildings have the following maps: diffuse, night illumination, bump, specular and reflections. LOD4 on all buildings only has diffuse, night and specular.
LOS ANGELES DOWNTOWN PACK (VOL.2)
In this pack you will find the following buildings:
ONE&TWO CALIFORNIA PLAZA:
California Plaza includes two glass towers and a hotel, 42 Story One California Plaza, completed in 1985, 52 story Two California Plaza, completed in 1992, and a 17 Story Omni Hotel, completed in 1991. The plaza is linked to the Museum of Contemporary Art with a water court on ground level with dancing fountians. A thrid office tower was planned at 65 Floors, making it LA's 2nd tallest. The project was cancelled after the Downtown office boom from the 1970's to 1992. It is rumored that the tower is not officially cancelled.
611 Place is a 189 m (620 ft) skyscraper at 611 West 6th Street in downtown Los Angeles, California, designed by William L. Pereira & Associates and completed in 1969. The building was commissioned by the now-defunct Crocker Citizen's Bank, and served as its headquarters for many years before being bought by AT&T. It was the tallest building in Los Angeles upon completion, and the first building to surpass Los Angeles City Hall in terms of structural height (many buildings had surpassed City Hall with decorative spires, the first being Richfield Tower). It consists of a cross-shaped tower clad in vertical aluminum beams, and supported on its west side by an immense, blank slab of concrete running the entire height of the building, which is used to display corporate logos.
The building has a strange habit of making unusual appearances in popular movies; it appeared twice in 2004, first in The Day After Tomorrow where it mysteriously appeared in shots of Manhattan, and later in Along Came Polly, where it was the starting point of an ill-fated BASE jump. 611 Place is also destroyed by an earthquake in the 2000 movie Epicenter. In the 1997 film Con Air the building be seen from an aerial view and street view as a dead body falls from an aircraft and lands on a car near the base of the building in what is supposed to be the city of Fresno, California.
UNION BANK PLAZA
The Union Bank Tower was the first building to beat the Los Angeles City Hall in height in 1968, but was the tallest building in Los Angeles for only one year when the 611 Place was completed in 1969. It was called Union Bank Plaza for several years, until the building was recladded in the 90's and was renamed Union Bank of California Plaza
BANK OF AMERICA CENTRE
Bank of America Center, formerly Security Pacific Plaza, is a 55-story, 224.03 m (735.0 ft) class-A office skyscraper on Bunker Hill, Los Angeles, California. It was completed in 1974 with the headquarters of Security Pacific National Bank, Capital Group Companies and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton as its main tenants. The tower is the fifth tallest building in Los Angeles, and the 83rd-tallest building in the United States. In 2009 it had the highest assessed value of any office building in Los Angeles County. From when it opened and until 1992, it bore the Security Pacific Bank logo. It was removed when Bank of America acquired Security Pacific. The building site is situated on 4.21 acres (1.70 ha) that features a formal garden with over 200 trees and three 24 ft (7.3 m) waterfalls. In front of the main entrance is the 42-foot (13 m) "Four Arches" sculpture by Alexander Calder.
THE BUILDINGS AT NIGHT:
And now for some group pictures
All buildings are Exceptional density office towers; so, in order to find them, click on the star icon within the office folder.
NOTE: The Bank of America and California Plaza buildings are modelled as accurately as possible: their real-life counterparts are built on hill slopes and therefore one side of the plaza is built at street-grade, the opposite one is above the neighbouring street. Due to placement constraints in-game, the road connector is placed on the "high" side of the plaza, so they will connect nicely to a road whilst the opposite side should be already off the edge of the hill and above whatever is at the foot of the latter.
This also means that if you try to place these buildings on flat land, most of the base portion will be underground and not visible. Whilst it is not a problem of any sort by itself, it is advised that you place them at the edge of some moderately high hills. Use the attached photos and/or software such as Google Earth for more detailed reference.
Tested in Cities Xl Platinum, therefore it should work nicely with CXL2012. NOT tested in CXL 2011 or earlier. Tested with the USer Interface Mod, which should anyway not be required to access the buildings. If you have any issues, report them and I'll try to fix them.
I thought about including California plaza 1&2 as separate towers, but I believed it would have been more neat-looking and unique to have both as one plaza. I shall upload them in isolated version if I get enough requests.
