CJ Grosvenor, New Albana

As you can see, it is still largely a work in progress. As CiM2 maps are vastly huge (and lack of in-game options to place buildings other than placing them individually, one by one), the development of Grosvenor is slow as a result. Because of this, I decided to focus on major suburban centres and satellite cities surrounding central Grosvenor which is evident in the map below.

Based on the map above, it clearly demonstrates a well-designed road network, and the road hierarchy and its patterns throughout the metropolitan region of Grosvenor. Like any other Western cities around the world, Grosvenor also has a serious urban sprawl problem. The average density of the metropolitan region is just 228 persons per kilometre squared which is substantially low. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), the annual urban population growth of Grosvenor is 2.26%, and it is expected that the metropolitan region will grow to at least 4.5 million inhabitants by 2040 - an increase of approximately 700,000 new residents in just 23 years. Due to lack of statutory planning, the urban footprint of Grosvenor is expected to grow from 79 kilometres (north-south) to at least 95 kilometres due to the development of new suburbs in the outer areas. This will place significant pressure on existing public transport system, especially for the metropolitan train network.

As a result of this projection, the Government of New Albana has recently released a new regional plan for Grosvenor in an attempt to curb urban sprawl and encroachment by encouraging infill and higher density development along the public transport corridors.
