CJ Nicaumenee

Hey folks Today I want to present you some more recent overviews and changes within Nicaumenee! I will also show you some of the cultural and entertainment spots which I think do deserve some more attention

Let's start with the most recent overview: The cut out area shows parts of a railyard that is not totally finished and that I want to show you in another update. Nonetheless, the image shows about two thirds of the total area There is a problem with the trees, though; it appears that some of the wooden areas start to disappear again after a while.


Here's a video that also gives you a good overview, although some small changes have been made in the meantime


Here you can spot the bridges leading to Downtown, and the Lakeside Park on the lower right side:


In the image below you can also see how the terrain is changing between the two bridges; it was quite a challenge to get a nice impression


You can spot so called Barren Hill within the center. It has always been a source of rest for the residents of the homonymous district. From the top, you will have a great view onto the port area, as well as onto Downtown Island.


You can see Herald Square at night within the following image. It has become a center for entertainment, with cinemas, theaters, clubs and entertainment hotels nearby.


Union Square with the University Library Hall in the center. On the lower right side, you can spot the Ojibwe Arts Museum, showing the culture of the Ojibwe people; the presentation of the construction plans back in the 1980s led to an outcry by the local Ojibwe clan members, as the buidling's shape did not resemble any known Ojibwe lodges (e.g. a waginogaan). Nonetheless, the citizens became accustomed to the museum, and its directors have established a reputation for not flinching when it comes to the impacts of colonialism onto the culture of the indigenous people.

Court Hall Square shown in the following image is split into an older classical square, and a modern plaza. The whole square has been seeing lots of protests since the civil rights movement.



The Nicaumenee City Museum next to the City Hall offers a detailed view onto the city's history, dating back to the late 17th century:


The Nicaumenee Museum of Natural History shows a variety of fossils that have been found within the county. It starts with trilobites and armoured prehistoric fish, and ends with mammoths and giant beaver that once were spread across the Midwest.


Of course, Liberty Square is still the most popular spot for leisure activities, with a variety of theaters and stages nearby:




Downtown Island also hosts some galleries and museums. In the image below, you can spot the Nicaumenee Museum of Classical Arts, hosting a vast collection of American landscape paintings of the 18th and 19th century. Furthermore, the Galeria de Arte Latinoamericano shows the works of Latin American artists who settled in Wisconsin and who reflect upon their experiences made in the United States.


Most recently, two new museums that focus on Classical and Modern Asian Arts have opened their doors to the public:



Of course, when it comes to leisure activities, one may not forget about the two popular sports venues. First, the Nicaumenee Stadium, hosting the Nicaumenee Geese, a local MLB club. By the way, there was another revamp concerning the collector lanes nearby Sherman Park Tunnel


Second, the ArenA, hosting concerts and basketball matches.
