Meso-American city

Tlaxahuitl is the capital of Tlaxahuitlec Empire which was a great meso-american civilization before Azcapotzalco and then Aztec Triple Alliance take the domination of the region. Located on Huatlatepec Lake in the centre of Mexico, the city was a great religious, commercial, political and military centre.
Around 1050 AD, the first inhabitants (Tlaxahuitlecs) migrated from the West of Mexico to this area because they were expelled from their lands by a warlike people. They settled next the remains of a ancient city on a lake. Gradually, the village became a city with more and more people thanks to the freshwater and chinampas which provided a lot of food. With the inspiration of neighbouring towns, the construction of the first temple ended around 1120 AD. In 1170, a war happened between Tlaxahuitl and Huatlatepec (the rival city also located next the lake). Indeed, Huatlatepec didn't like the growing power of Tlaxahuitl and tried to enslave them and rule the whole region. But Tlaxahuitl won the fight and made Huatlatepec as a vassal city-state ; the Empire was born. In 1290 AD, Tlaxahuitlec Empire was in control of six great city-states and was the most powerful state in Meso-america. But an other civilization was growing, the Tepanec Empire from Azcapotzalco. And after three wars, Azcapotzalco helped by Mexicas (another name for Aztecs) conquered the vassal city-states then crushed Tlaxahuitlec Empire and burnt a part of the city in 1402. After that, the Inhabitants, homeless and affected by starvation (because half of the food was given as a tribute by vassal city-states), migrated mostly to Tenochtitlan abandoning the city.
Tlaxahuitl was discovered by the Spanish in 1552 and after looting all the gold they could find, they built a city next the lake called San Luis, using the old stone quarries.
You can see the city as it was in 1290 AD, during the golden age of the Empire. At this time, the population is around 90000 inhabitants.

    5/5,
That is one of the few true masterpieces on this site. I sincerely hope that this journal inspires other builders to not just give up when they cannot build something directly with one mod, but when they have to use e.g. no-collision mods.

I love the dense main city a lot, the temple district looks fabulous. I can imagine that it must have cost hours over hours to construct each one of the temples.

Furthermore, the chinampas are stunning beautiful and look the way that anthropologists think of them. Well done.

There are, however, two points that I have wished to see within the city: one would be a large dam through the lake to connect the city with another shore. The other would be more military barracks in the surrounding area. Think about that fighting was not only seen as a necessity to defensive your own ground, but also as a rite to proove your skills.

But these are just minor points. Keep it up :)

Thank you for your detailed comment. I hope that it will inspire other player to build different kind of city than European, American or Asian even if the game is made for it, i'm not against this kind of city ofc but it's always nice to see something original and not only very well done ;) With all the mod, we can build almost everything :D For the dam : yeah, it was planed (you already give me the idea) but i don't play on this city anymore for the moment because it crashes very easily and quickly :( i think it's due to one of a mod i've made (that's also why i didn't put the mod on xnl yet). And for the military camp, i didn't describe everything but there is one barrack in all towns in the countryside : i will add some description ^^

    So impressive!
i always wanted to create an ancient China city due to the limited of ancient Asian mods... but this one gives me a lot of inspiration. I really like the way you made historical side, and perfectly fit into the landscape around, Very impressive!
Just like Inan said, you are a great anti-mainstream- cities cities builder ! ^^
