    Update time!

Time to show my next project: a slum pack based on South East Asian cities.

I had some thoughts about the morality of a pack like this. I think that city builders care about realism and this pack will provide it indeed - but if people think it's too insensitive to make a mod like this, then I will move on to some other project.

let me know what you think!

I wouldn't necessarily say it's insensitive, however I would personally say it's uninteresting. I'm just not interested in a slum pack for obvious reasons (the same reason one would naturally not necessarily want their city/home-town to consist of such run down unappealing areas).

Well, we all know that this kind of housing area is about to be
within the top five of worst housing areas ever (numbers above would
mean even worse states of living, for instance living next to some poisonous
dumping ground (happens too)). I would rather say that not making
them was insensitive, as it would mean that the sense for realism
within a community of city builders has dropped a lot.

I can nonetheless think of another reason why you would
not want those slums to be part of the game.
Are you concerned about the way people will handle
    your mod within their cities?
E.g. that some really low lives will abuse them
as the houses where "only the negro lives",
    to name one specific way
(to anyone who reads this, I hope you understand
that with this statement, I do NOT support any
racist ideology, it is more the contrary...)?
And that with adding your mod you would
help those crazy guys to act out their stupid thoughts?

I think that anything that adds realism to the game is welcome. And those type of houses are, unfortunately, realistic...

To be honest I think this is a great addition to the game.
Ofcourse we all want to build "pretty" cities, but those never really turn out looking very real.
@kipate I believe its to each player to decide to use them and how.

@FussionM of course it is! Still, I would opine that the option I described
was an abuse of such a mod. But I am also well aware that one could not hinder
such idiots of finding other ways to act out...

    Go for it!
    Insensitive? Not at all!
Not interesting? Depends on what you want to build... I personally might not use it as I am more into European cities, but am sure there wil be many people that will.
Possible to be misused? Of course, just like any other mod...
And now that you are opening the Pandora's box, how about Latin American slums/favelas? The Rio de Janeiro map would look very interesting and much more real with some favelas on the hills, not just fancy beaches...

That would be really great to have very low income neighborhoods in our cities like this mod for Cities XL or Cities XXL. Having this mod would make our cities even more realistic.

Mate, those are great...realistic.... we know you are a purist of realism... so there is no problem of modding such kind of buildings... they bring more diversity, more story telling... there is nothing wrong with that...

I would love to see 2 new wealth levels implemented in Cities XXL: poverty and Keystone elite. Poverty would look like your slum buildings and they would not pay taxes and would work in the "informal sector," possibly through adding factories that hire impoverished workers and unskilled workers with 1 or 2 skilled worker(s) as boss. Keystone elite would be the people who live in the LA and Miami style MegaMansions. If it was possible to make new wealth levels (which I doubt) then we would have "Impoverished," "Unskilled Workers," "Skilled Workers," "White Collar Workers"(currently called executives), "Upper Executives" and "Keystone Elite." These would correspond with the 5 quintilles of wealth + the top 1%. However, the only buildings that could hire Keystone Elite would be the High-Tech Industry boosting exceptional office and the Office Services boosting exceptional office and both would hire 1 Keystone Elite each.

I would probably avoid your slum pack unless 2 new wealth levels could be implemented. If that was possible, I would build one realistic Latin-American city (probably on the Río de Janeiro map) with colorful favelas and one Indian city with extensive slums.
