I invite you to drop in this thread of beautiful photographs from the coasts of your country.

Specify the name of the place and its location.

    I start.

Calanque d'En-Vau, Provence (south of France), near Marseille.

Unfortunately, I live in a landlocked country, so I don´t have any coastline :(. But that looks very nice Supersnake!

A large number of Australian cities are located on or near the coast and so have access to lots of beaches. In some cities, the beaches extend for several kilometres. While they may not be beautiful in the same way as the picture posted by Supersnake, I chose the three images below because I found all of them really appealing and couldn't decide which one I liked the most!

This is Cottesloe Beach in my home city of Perth in the state of Western Australia. This is just one of about 12 beaches in Perth. I really like this area because it has a Mediterranean look but with southern pine trees!

And as a contrast, this is from an area known as Gisbon Steps, part of the Port Campbell National Park on the south coast of the state of Victoria. This image fascinates me, these rock stacks loom out of the water and dominate the landscape, I think they look incredible and sort of 'epic'. There is another group nearby known as the Twelve Apostles that are more familiar to tourists.

And for something completely different, this last image is of the Gold Coast, a city on the east coast of the state of Queensland. I love the way the skyline contrasts with the beach, it's sort of like a borderline between man and nature.

    Oceanside Oregon
Oceanside is a census-designated place and unincorporated community in Tillamook County, Oregon, United States. The population was 361 at the 2010 census. Oregon Route 131's northern terminus is in the community, which is just north of Netarts Bay. Symons State Park is in Oceanside, while Three Arch Rocks National Wildlife Refuge lies just offshore.

This is my goto place for rest and relaxation. There is nothing like the Oregon Coast. While not warm and tropical the quiet solitude compensates.

French coast is beautiful. Recently I have seen a wonderful documentary about the coast in several parts. Don't know if it's available in english though.

Although this place is not in my country, I've always found it fascinating.

This image shows some of the ruins of Nan Madol (called the Venice of the Pacific by some people due to the extensive canal works) on the island of Pohnpei in Micronesia.
It was a city built into the sea on artificial islands and it's exotic location and strange construction was a source of inspiration for some writers (such as H.P. Lovecraft who apparently used it as the sunken city of R'lyeh for his Cthulhu stories).

With the ebb tide, this sea becomes a 20 km wide and almost 250 km long beach :).
