Hello all, with Cities Xxl released, I am sure many prospective buyers are wondering how the game would perform with their computer. That's where you guys come in: my idea for this thread is for people to post their average FPS in a variety of city sizes on different detail settings, along with their system specs. This can help people know how the game will run on a system similar to theirs, and what they should upgrade to to get satisfactory performance. (In case you didn't know, FPS stands for frames per second, and the higher the better. Most people consider 30 FPS to be reasonably smooth, and once you start to get down to 20 FPS you can really start to notice the lag. A higher FPS like 60 will offer optimally smooth gameplay, though the difference between say, 15 and 30 FPS vs 30 and 60 FPS isn't quite as noticable. However, lower framerates in a game like Cities Xxl won't be as unplayable as in a action-based game like Call of Duty due to the nature of the game. You can use a program like Fraps to see your FPS.)

    Anyway, I'll start:

    My potato computer specs:

    i3 2370m dual core processor
    HD 3000 graphics
    6GB ram
    1TB hard drive
    Windows 7 64-bit

Benchmark: Cherokee Peak with no buildings, just hovering at max level above the map in panorama mode

FPS in low settings: 12-25 FPS

FPS in high settings: 4-7 FPS

As you can see, the game is pretty unplayable on my basic laptop unless you're really able to put up with lots of lag.
I may add more benchmarks if I start to build up a city, but the game already plays pretty horribly on my setup. Anyways, you guys get to posting benchmarks so we can build up a useful database! :)

not sure but my FPS goes up and down like a Yoyo, seen it as high as 123 - then it goes to 25 - depending on what it's rendering I guess.

(Is using Fraps the only way to show fps?)
I have no idea what my fps is, but it seems smooth to me. (i7, 16 megs ram, NVidia GTX 850).

My problem was heat. I'd never heard my laptop's fans before (I have dual fans) and they were working hard. I had to turn the Textures down to medium and that helped quite a bit.

Is there anyone with 2 gigs of RAM? Is it still worth buying it then?

Same performance as XL for me..

    Intel i7 4790 @ 4Ghz
    16GB Ram
    GTX 980 4GB card..

I only have 20k people in my city and already the frame rate is going below 20 fps.

That's weird Eastley. You could be experiencing an issue related to mods conflicting with each other, a shader issue maybe. Update Microsoft C++ redistributable packages and have a look at your logs.

fps is same like Yours...I don't feel the difference with platinum, although my potato computer is not better then Yours :D

    Capture.JPG

but there is a chance it become very slow, it feels so heavy when moving camera around, fps not more than 15 :( at any camera angle ...even slower then platinum. I see the CPU usage lower than platinum when it's happen. I'm not sure if it was my laptop issue

    No way this is multi-threaded.

It does use other threads for like 1% of cpu usage, useless.
