How to import FBX file into the program Artist Suite 10.4.0.14?
Can i use 3ds Max 2016?
No one knows?
Or I do not correctly put the question?
open the fbx file via artist suite...I think that's the way, I never try it thou
Because I have 3Ds Max 2016, FBX is my only option. Are there any guides?
Hi! Have u find a solution? I have the same problem - after an another update of that fucking amazing windows 10 my 3dmax is corrupted(((((((((, so now i have to use a 3dmax 2014. It seems that this Artist Suite 10.4.0.14 open not each FBX, but what fbx should be I dont know.
No, I have installed 3ds Max 2012.
For later versions of 3dsmax than 2012 , you install the latest Artist Tool suite as per instructions then within 3dsmax configure your toolbar to include the import to viewer via FBX button. Artist tool suite has to be installed in your 3dsmax installation. You do not need for the viewer to open FBX directly , just import FBX into max and then launch the export to viewer option within 3dsmax to see it in the viewer.

The New Artist Tool Suite (Viewer) is a stand-alone installation and does not have a 3ds max 'plugin', so to speak.
However it supports the FBX format, and comes with a macro that can be used in all the latest versions of 3ds max. This macro can be added as a button to the toolbar like the previous 2012 exporter.
It will export as FBX and launch the viewer.
So, the question is where can i find this macro and how to add it in the 3d max?
I have found this macro and added it to my 3dmax 2014. It is convert file to fbx and open a viewer, but problem is that models lose all maps, it appears pink in viewer. Also i noticed that i can't choose cities xl shader in material editor, i gues that could be a reason for pink model in a viewer. But how to add cities xl shader in material editor in a 3dmax above 2012 i dont know
1/ make sure the model to be exported is in the default or root layer in 3dsmax
2/ The shader is allocated in this version by the material name ie b_xxxx sets the building shader , f_xxx sets the furniture shader r_xxxx sets the road shader. There is no longer an option to set parameters like in the old version. This can cause issues with max files created with the older viewer.
3/ To set a custom shader you need to put in in parenthisis after the material name in max ie b_mymodname_t2_l1(shader=enhanced)

I've cheked it. There is not any multi materials. Are u using also higher version of 3d max?
Can u check my 3dmax file and try to import it in viewer?
Do you want to check in older versions 3ds Max?
First of all I would like to someone check it in 3d max higher version then 2012, in a new viewer, to understand what is a reason for a broken import.
But it would be nice if you check it in 2012 version also.
I can't open anyone of theese files in an old viewer neither in a new one.
