If I recall correctly, that statue is a monument
to honour all the tough women that had to stay
home and care about the family whilst the men
    fought in the World War(s).

So guys, which countries sent troops to fight the Germans?

Yeah, is Russia. More near of Azov (300 km) than Khabarovsk (6900 km).
In the picture, a statue of the city founder looks through the fog at one of the naval base ships

Seems to me the next answer will be correct. Hurry up !

I just read that the Statue of the Woman holding the Baby and waving her hand
was not a war memorial, but rather a contribute to all the sailors and all the women
who nonetheless have to be strong once their men are away on the sea...
by the way, Möebius, you did round down a lot, regarding the distance
between Krasnodar and the Mystery City :D

Sorry, Batumi is Georgia, not Russia.
Hello kipate, are distances in straight-line according to Google Earth rule tool, not by car ;)

Okay. I have found it. Novorossiysk.

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTZL0irLZiYaCXBJ_iMOg4jdb-zQ3nmC0GllKjsjnx82H5ouGe8aA.jpg

More good clues would have been that Novorossiysk is the country's main port on the Black Sea, it's the leading Russian port for exporting grain, it's one of the few cities honored with the title of Hero City , or that it has a Population of 241,952.  It looks like an interesting city.

Congratulations veija2, the city is Novorossiysk.

    833217.jpg

The clues that I have given may be good for someone and not so good for others, although I try to avoid being too obvious clues, the reason of the game is to investigate a bit. Also you can ask about any aspect of the city, there is no problem for answering. Also I noticed that some hints has not been taken into consideration. For example, if there is a picture with a warship, has a certain logic, that the city is on the coast and not inside land or near a narrow river. I did not think at first that it would be so difficult to guess, my excuses.

I have chosen Novorossiysk due to the curiosity that made on me a meteorological phenomenon that occurs in its bay, a cold and hurricane wind called "bora" or "nordost" that produces spectacular pictures

Replying to kipate, the statue of mother and child should be a recurrent motif in Russia, there is another similar in Odessa

Alright, veija2, is your turn, I wish you good choice

@Möebius Yes, indeed the Sculpture is an often used motive.
But well, only in Russia and former Soviet countries, so it could still serve
    as a hint :) ;)

Amazing pictures, Moebius. Novorossiysk made a great mystery city.

This one is not likely to be as good, but let's give it a go:

Oh yeah veija2, your picture is nice, too, looks like a old Supertramp album
    Supertramp_-_Crisis.jpg

I have the feeling to have seen long ago a similar image in an article about acid rain or something like that, but not remember well at this moment.
To say an attempt randomly, Chelyabinsk, Russia?
