The "bootleg River" City Building Contest

    Bootleg River Map, City Building Contest

    ​
    City Building will take place between November - January 2015. City Builders must submit up to 10 photos by February 1, 2015, for judging. Winners will be announced February 28, 2015. Winners will be awarded special "banners" that will be displayed under their avatar on XLNation.

    The Rules:
    1. Your City must be built on the Bootleg River Map
    2. Build any type of city you like.
    3. No restrictions on patches or mods
    4. Submit up to 10 Photos in an official posting by February 1, 2015, in the designated forum thread.

    The Spirit of Community

    Share your work as you progress in the building period. Encourage each other. Bystanders can cheer on their favorites. Remember, this is a game and we are supposed to have FUN. This contest is not about the biggest city but the best in various categories. I am still working out if the community will vote on winners or a judging panel will be appointed.


    Cities will be considered for the following Awards
    • Win, Place, Show (Voted by the Community) -- Unique Medal and 15/10/5 Trophy Points

      Category Winners will get a Unique Medal and 10 Trophy Points, These will be awarded by a judging panel. (Most likely I will get non City Building persons to pick winners from the submitted entries).
    • Best rural or farm region
    • Best "Green" City
    • Best "Industrial" City
    • Best RHM interchanges and highways
    • Best Parks and Plazas
    • Best realistic City
    • Best futuristic City
    • Best Vacation City
    • Best "Historical" City
    • Best "Commercial" City
    • Best Looking Skyline
    • Best Looking Harbor
    • Best Looking Airport

    It is posible to use photoshop or another program like that?

    Show off your photoshop skills if you like but its not a requirement nor should it effect the judging

    I would like to announce the creation of "White Salmon." This will be my entry in the contest. Since I am participating I will not be one of the judges. I know this is a difficult map to work but I am sure we are up for the challenge. This is my first city in Cities XL in over two years and my first attempt to use the RHM. Right now I am laying out the RHM interchange(s). I have my work cut out for me to tackle this learning curve.

    My only cheat is to build up a reserve of cash and once that is accomplished I try to run the game as published with the CLM, HEM, and also the new Civic Services Mods. Heck I even "grow" the BluePrints when I want to add one.

    I hope others of you will join me on this three month adventure.

    I will be building a city called "Niobrara" for this challenge. Niobrara means spreading water, and I picture the city spreading out along the river's coast-line. Haven't really decided how I'm going to approach it yet, still studying the map.

    Yep I'm in. It is a challenging map to build on. I just hope the size of the map won't cause any problems. It seems OK on low graphic settings.

    @Pekka start building now until we decide to vote I guess.

    I started my road layout, don't think I will use RHM. just other road,bridge mods.

    At the end Icy - might be best just to have one open poll listing every ones city titles?

    Yep, I've started too. Got about 200 people. Started my airport and harbour area. I'll get into it tonight I think.

    You're sure that you don't have ants as inhabitants of your town?
    200 people and they already work at an airport as well as at a harbour?
    I hope they get high wages :p
