Don't want to give too much away, but have been really proud of my progress so far, so why not share it. I've decided to challenge myself from my usual European-esque cities to a completely Japanese styled one. Never knew how hard it was, but its been so fun so far!

Here is an incredibly small & vague (haha) preview of the unfinished Miyako CBD & Hatsu district connected by the Sakame bridge.

So Japanese cities on a coast like this would have Tsunami Harbor Defenses right?

Hey everyone, I also started a city for the contest on that map. I post here a few pictures to give an overview of it. It is still full of farms and fields but the cities grows and expands on them :) cxl_screenshot_linelete_5.jpg

    Looks quite good @Wibi
But don't waste your time with photoshopping images that don't show finished areas, you need to build :p
Only 2.5 months left! By the way, such a tsunami wall system could be done with existing mods, I would say.

By the way, good catch, too, @IcyHot ;)

@parisenforce I do like what I see, although you mixed a lot of different styles (Amsterdam with Latin Pack, for example),
but right now, it looks quite good!!!

Btw, @raulv87 , your city looks quite like some Eastern European Industrial Metropolis, a good candidate for the most realistic city part ;)
    Also, don't forget RHM smoothness :D :)

@ ALL: do not forget to make back ups! Regularly!

:) Yes, I thought about the most realistic city award. It's possible. We'll see. But RHM smoothness is my nightmare... and plazas :D.

A look at I-70 corridor/I-45 interchange and stadium district. cxl_screenshot_covington_3.jpg

An over-look at an unfinished downtown CBD / east downtown / and I-70 and I-270 loop interchange. (270 is the downtown loop.)

Lots of creativity with RHM, unfortunately, the districts look a bit boring and some buildings must have been placed without lots of planning thoughts.

You're a quick city builder aren't you? haha. Really liked the city view on the first photo. I like your overall city layout & epic RHM, but kinda confused with the city's theme. An American city with a little Europe district (Colosseum+opera house bundled area)? Also feel like there's alot of empty awkward gaps between buildings, not a fan of that.

Ok, done with my criticism! Hate sounding like a smartass, but that's my honest two cents.

Thanks for the feedback! I enjoy critiques so no hard feelings at all! Yeah I built the city rapidly and now and going back into targeted areas and "re-vamping" to give each neighborhood and area it's own unique setting/feel. So a lot of the little meticulous work is being done after the city has expanded. I find it hard to build the little details if I can't see the whole city coming together. As far as the European district/area goes, I just wanted to get a feel of what the buildings looked like together and where I should incorporate them. It is definitely an American city, but I wanted to play with the European angle too... I might just bulldoze that whole area though if it comes out weird. :/ So I'm just as confused as you are haha

Well, you can still incorporate European Parts. Just look at that big cathedral in Washington DC ;)
Maybe take a smaller church (either in game or a mod) and recreate such a little hill with the church on top.
With a bit of patience, it will surely look good!
