    Do you have the User Interface Mod installed? If you do, try to re-install it. Make sure to pick the correct path to the game's installation folder, sometimes it might end up installed in the wrong folder if the path is not the default one.

    If you have Cities XXL, you need the Community Mod instead of the User Interface Mod.

    64 bit.
    Steam & CitiesXl are installed on my E: drive.
    It was working until something got damaged on my C: drive.

    Every else seems to be working except CitiesXL after restoring files on C:

    You need to use the file version of the interface when using 64bit as the installer will not work.

    I seem to having the same problem as Skater27, it's almost identical, I have the changed the tag.cfg file several times, updated it with the latest... I have the Updated UIM Interface 179.9 installed, still crashes... I've even replaced it with the Altris one and still the same thing... I'm using Windows 8 and have I've installed Direct X9 still crashes on startup... I've had this game installed before with all the same parameters and never had this problem before, even CitesXXL hasn't given me this much problem... any help would be greatly appreciated... I've posted the log file for those interested..

    hm, for me its working fine :D

    yes you are right, its my missing tag thats causing the crash.. you have two options:
    1. remove my big bridge pack and dummy rail bridges from your paks folder
    2. get tags.cfg dependency and follow its installation instruction Dependency - Tags.cfg | XLNation - Cities XXL

    the latest one is 1.79.9 ;)

    go to your cxl installation folder (for example C:\Program Files\Focus Home Interactive\Cities XL Platinum\ or C:\Program Files\Steam\Steam Apps\common\Cities XL\ )
    then go into the folder data/config/ and open tags.cfg with notepad or editor (make sure its called tags.cfg with s)
    tell me what the fourth (third written) line tells you

    Problem solved... it was a building called ... i think Castelleneta or something to that effect... after i deleted it ... my game stopped crashing....
