    With all the site moving and other stuff in life getting in the way, I have only managed to build up a small town and the start of a city area. The city is only streets and a few buildings so is not worth a screenshot yet.

    Hey, i hope not all submissions go for a full 2Mb for every picture. . . :bash:

    Bigger is nbot always better. . . well. . .

    still theoretically with a 2Mb per picture limit we could end up in a 250 - 350 Mb thread which would need ages to load.

    Do we think that we should suggest that we have a total size per submission or just leave it and see?

    I just hope that some people that finally submit don't go for a full size / big size in every picture. . . it's not really that great.

    id say we leave it like this for now and see if its working out good
    if not we can change that for next competition
    if ppl use a somewhat good photoediting software it should turn out smaller than 2mb, and hopefully ppl will consider viewability (or whatever u say in english :p ) for users and do not post too many xtra large photos

    yeah, even resizing images making them smaller can turn them better looking, and on the other hand it shrinks the memory.
    Or even lower down the quality of the pictures for few % ( not visible for viewer ) it lowers the MB greatly.

    depends, you need to find a balance between quality and filesize (regarding competition rules everything below 2mb is fine)
    the smaller the filesize the better overall, but if the picture turns into bad quality its no good. "we dont need uhd uncompressed pictures for this use" (a short overview: Image compression - Wikipedia on xln u can use .jp(e)g, .jpe, .gif, .tiff and .png)
    just try out a few settings with your photoediting software and choose the best compromise between quality and size

    I personally don't find a 1.31Mb file big. . . at the same time i have submitted in the past much smaller filesize pictures. . . even as low as 250Kb if i remember correctly. These were fullHD pictures.

    Try to think what most people huse to browse the site and then vote. It's going to be either a pc. . . or perhaps a cellphone or a tablet.
    Most pc's nowadays are at a fullHD screen analysis. . . i really odn;'t think it's many people that have bigger screen ratios. . .
    Most cellphones are either HD or fullHD or lower. . .

    I personally go for fullHD pictures. . . these are 1920x1080 or in some cases a 2500 x 600 if it's a linear shot.
    I use UHD and then resize them / recompress them to fullHD. These pictures are rarely over 0.5Mb.

    On the other hand you may want to use a bigger picture. . . you may want to show some more detail. . . this is where the "no more than 2Mb" rule really kicks in. . . Detail is good. . . you may want to do it in 1, 2. . . 3, 4 pictures max?
