Most of that stuff I've already done, such as updating my graphics card. I tried the 3GB switch, still nothing. Disabling my antivirus, changing screen resolution, nothing. Thanks for your help, and I'd love to be able to play this game again.

This page has a number of replies to various issues for crashed games. I've used some already and found that they do work so give it a read, particularly the sections titled: -
    AutoSave corruption
    User file corruption
    :)

P.S. I meant to say also that although the page talks about CXL 2011, it works for others as well, I'm running CXL Platinum and it worked as advertised.

    First off, thanks for replying.

However, still nothing. I've done all this stuff before. Deleting the focus home interactive, files inside it, same thing. I tried the new methods, but still came up empty.

It's alright. I'm sure a genius will eventually come around and make me feel stupid.

Make BOTH of us feel stupid haha.
Out of curousity, did you submit a tech error to Steam at all? I'd be interested to see what they have to say.

I posted something on the forums for Cities XL, but nothing to Steam directly. I don't feel like dealing with their support.

I can very much understand your viewpoint, I have found their tech support, shall we say... less than "supportive", a few times

Agreed. I always turn to the community first when dealing with problems.

Its probably worth still contacting the steam support. You might get someone helpful.

You know.. just about as soon as I gave up, I did something and the game started working..
I use an overlay called Overwolf.
I closed it and the game started working, like no problem.. no crashes at all.

There's a chance that anything that overlays with it, like a steam's game integration might be causing the crashing. So try disabling the the steam overlaying.

Well your post definitely got my hopes up, I tried it, restarted Steam and ran the game. Crashed on launcher as usual.

    Thanks for replying.

Apparently several other games from steam have had the same problem.
    Try reinstalling steam.
    Also try offline mode.

Same result as always. I don't get any more logs in my Focus Home Interactive folder, does that mean its the same error?
    Thanks for replying.

I just looked in log file and noticed I'm not getting any error reports. I deleted my log folder and launched the game so it might give me an error report, but nope. Does anyone know what this means?

It means you already have steam running in an abnormal state.
Either kill it in the process manager or reboot.
If you click the X on the online offline dialog that is what happens.

If you want to start from scratch.
    Kill steam or reboot.
    Uninstall CitiesXL and steam.
Move any mods to another directory
Delete the AppData and steam directories.
Use a registry cleaner to remove residual traces.
Re-download CitiesXL from steam and install.

Sorry for the late reply, but it didn't work. I get an error log, but it's the same exact thing I had before. Anyway, thinks for replying.

    You have the disk space?
You don't have access restrictions on the directories or files?
Steam and CitiesXL are usable by everyone not just you?
